On Friday, September 9, 2022, Retired MSgt James Harris Jr. (Jimmy), loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away after a long illness at HCA Houston North Cypress Hospital, at the age of 78.
Jimmy was born on April 3,1944 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, to parents James Reginald and Ethelene Harris, however they moved to Harlem and the Bronx, N ew York where he spent his early years in Catholic School until joining the USAF at the age of 17 years old.
After joining the USAF, he was stationed at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, where he met and fell in love with Elizabeth Ann Wooley Crawl (Betty), her three children, Keven Eugene, Stephanie LaVerne, and Toni Lynn. To this marriage, they had three additional children, Michael Anthony, Gina Marie and James Edgar.
Through his military career, he traveled to 11 duty stations with his family and retired in 2004 at McClelland AFB, California. Upon retirement, Jimmy and Betty relocated to Houston, TX where they built their retirement homestead. They spent many years traveling to their favorite places, like Hawaii, San Francisco, cruising the Caribbean, visiting with family and friends.
His interests throughout the years were PHOTOGRAPHY, music, movies, (in the BOOM BOOM Room), sports, but mainly his football team, THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS. If you've ever been to their home, you will understand why! His sense of humor would make you "belly-laugh", especially of late when he called Betty and Mikey the "The Jailers" and Nie Nie the "The Warden"!
