James Lyle Baker

Reared in Lake Jackson, Texas, he was a standout football player at Brazosport High School. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1963 with a degree in Accounting. James earned his C.P.A. certificate and began his career with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and later became a partner with Arthur Anderson in Houston. He left public accounting to enter real estate development and served as Chief Financial Officer for Tour 18, Inc. until his retirement in 2011.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margaret Matlock Baker; sons James Lee Baker, Shea Lyle Baker and daughter in law, Melissa Short Baker; grandchildren, Remington James Baker, Hayden Shea Baker and Kendall Grace Baker; brother, Herbert "Buddy" Baker, sisters Virginia "Jinx" McNutt, Margie English, and Linda Pelham; .

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 30th, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 1st, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Restwood Memorial Park, 1038 West Plantation Drive, Clute, Texas 77531.
