Jack was born to Loran Victor and Eula Lee Edwards on June 18, 1926, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the oldest of three children. After high school graduation he joined the Navy and served for two years. After his discharge in 1946 he attended the University of Georgia and worked at a bank in Atlanta where he met his future wife, Louise. They married on July 2, 1949.
Jack had a 30-year career with Shell Oil where he was transferred and moved the family to Tulsa, Minneapolis, Chicago and finally to Houston in 1971. He retired in 1982 at the age of 56. After that, his “retirement” jobs were selling real estate and selling appliances at Sears.
Jack and Louise were married for 48 years until her passing in 1998. A year later he moved to Brookdale Senior Living where he lived for 23 more years. He enjoyed the activities and outings there, spent many hours reading books on his Kindle and especially loved playing Skip-Bo and dominoes every day for many years with his devoted friend Dottie.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Louise, his daughter Nancy, and his sister Jean. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Monroe and husband Chuck, Jan Fehler and husband David, and Peggy Hensley; six grandchildren (Helen, Sarah, Richard, David, John and Laura); seven great-grandchildren (Jenna, Jeri Anne, Jackson, Rafael, Xavier, Jaden and Zoe); and his brother Bob and wife Marla.
Jack was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
