Husam H. Kawaja, 77, passed away on May 29, 2024, in Houston, Texas. He was born in Ramallah, Palestine, on May 27, 1947, to Hafeez and Milada Kawaja. He married in July 1976, and moved to the United States in hopes of a better life. He ran several successful businesses. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his children Manal Iwais and her husband Mohanad Iwais; Hafeez Kawaja; Melad Kawaja and his wife Iris and daughter Lily; and Jowanna Knapp and her husband Kevin Knapp and their sons Jacob and Jeremy. He is also survived by his brother Fuad Kawaja and sister Siham Kawaja. He was preceded in death by Muna Kawaja, his wife of 47 years.
Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am on June 7, 2024, at St. George Orthodox Christian Church, 5311 Mercer St., Houston, Texas 77005. Trisagion Prayers of Mercy and Funeral Service will follow at 11am at St. George Orthodox Christian Church. Interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Park,13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. Following the interment at Brookside Memorial Park a Meal of Mercy will be served in the church hall at St. George Orthodox Christian Church.
