HaeSun Kim was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world on October 21, 2021 at the age of 72 after battling with pancreatic cancer in recent weeks and showed her courage in facing challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, she came out a hero and fought strong until the end surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
She was born to Yi-Yong Chae and Howl-Sun Go on December 15, 1948 in Seoul, South Korea. She met the love of her life, YunTae, and together, they had one child; Christy Kim. She left her birth country and immigrated to the United States 40 years ago with once common dream, living the “American Dream” for her daughter.
Anyone who knew HaeSun was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her grandchildren Ashley and Anthony and embraced every moment with them. While battling two breast cancer back to back, she helped raise her grandchildren from birth and made sure they were educated in Christian school environment. Her grandchildren were a huge source of pride and joy as she watched them grow into an amazing young man and woman they have become. She had a vivacious personality and loved cooking meals for her family and friends.
HaeSun was preceded in death by her father and mother. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, YunTae; only child, Christy; son-in-law, Kevin; grandchildren, Ashley, Anthony; siblings, cousins, and numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation for Hae will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 25, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
