Gregory Carl Escoffery, aka 'Big Poppa', aka 'GP', was born in 1951 in Kingston, Jamaica, and moved to Houston, Texas, in 1980.
He was a fiercely devoted family man and is survived by his wife Patricia, sons Gregory and Matthew and their families, including grandchildren Jocelyn, Gavin and Ryli. Gregory's career as a trucker afforded him the pleasure of seeing the highways and byways of this country, but he was always happiest when he returned to his family and his beloved 'H-Town' community.
Gregory was a social butterfly, a larger-than-life friend who felt it was important to champion the underdog and to mentor the next generations coming after him. As a result, he was always surrounded by young people and he revelled in their company.
Gregory's Funeral service will be Friday, March 24, 2023, at 10:30AM, at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church, 13350 Ashford Point Drive, Houston, TX. 77082.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Justin Martyr's Social Ministry or St. Justin Martyr's Knights of Columbus.
