Gregory Robert Dwyer, 55, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2021 after a courageous battle against colon cancer. Gregory was born in Cranston, Rhode Island on July 6, 1965 to parents, Donald T. Dwyer and Loralee (Ernst) Dwyer.
Greg graduated Cranston High School East in 1983. After completing high school, he attended the University of Texas in Austin where he received his B.S. in Mathematics and a B.A. in History.
On August 4, 2007, Greg married Danny Vu in Vancouver, Canada and together they raised one wonderful son.
Greg devoted his time as a math teacher and tennis coach at Kingwood High School. He was a member of USTA, GLTA, HTC and HTA. Some of his many passions included spending quality time with his family and friends. He enjoyed coaching, reading, and anything pertaining to sports. He found joy in competing in tennis tournaments. He loved the Providence Friars and Boston Red Sox dearly. Greg was a proud two-time Jeopardy Champion in 2000. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He was generous, selfless and supportive to others. He encouraged his students to strive for greatness. He found joy in making everyone smile. Greg will always be remembered for his kind spirit and genuinely caring heart. All who knew Gregory will miss him dearly.
Gregory is preceded in death by father, Donald T. Dwyer.
Left to cherish his memory is loving husband, Danny Vu; son, Zachary VuDwyer; mother, Loralee M. Flood; sister, Erinn Dwyer Huetteman and husband Mark as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service is scheduled to follow and begin promptly at 2:30 PM in the Family Chapel at Brookside followed by a burial at Brookside Memorial Park.
