Gloria G. Gallo passed away at 80 years of age on the morning of Tuesday December 13th, 2022. We sorely miss her loving nature and vibrant energy. She took great pride in being a dedicated mother and grandmother.
This full of life, caring and vivacious woman is survived by her siblings Mary Helen, Margaret, Tony, Johnny, and sister-in-law Roseanne; children Marie (Bob), Sylvia, Joe (Lisa), Gilbert (Kayla), and daughter-in-law Irene; grandchildren Jeremiah, ReAnna, Riley, Brooke, Hunter, Abbey, Owen, Stephan, and Chase; great-grandchildren Mykena, Araceli, Amadeus, Cryslin, and Onixx; and great-great-grandson Jeremiah Aaron.
Her parents Pete and Mary Gomez are welcoming her in heaven along with her husband Alex, son Chris, sister Terri, brother-in-law Nick, granddaughter Stacey, and great-granddaughter Angelique.
Gloria was born and raised in Houston, TX. An earnest worker from the beginning, she started her first job at a meat processing factory around the age of 15. At the age of 17 she gave birth to Marie, working even harder as a single mother to provide for her first daughter. She went on to marry her first husband three years later. From this marriage she had three more children Gilbert, Chris, and Sylvia.
Gloria obtained her cosmetology license during this marriage. She was a social butterfly who thrived on conversation, laughter, and joy; making friends everywhere she went. Years later she began working for Brown & Root chemical plant as a warehouse operator, enduring intense manual labor in the fierce Texas heat without complaint. All the while, continuing to be a hairdresser and babysitter to support her children as a single parent at the end of a 17-year marriage.
She then moved her children to LaPorte, TX tirelessly working days and nights while still devotedly being an involved and supportive mother. In 1981, she met the love of her life Alex Gallo and they were married in August of 1983. The blending of these two families started a lifelong path of family get-togethers, celebrations, cookouts, adventures, and travels. They joyously welcomed in each grandchild along the way.
Gloria retired from Akzo Nobel after nearly 20 years of service. After her retirement she became the neighborhood grandma. She went on to not only babysit her own grandchildren, but other children as well. She selflessly volunteered at her grandchildren’s school, events, and her church. She was involved in all of their activities, even working in the school cafeteria.
Towards the end, she helped take care of her bed bound husband until his passing in 2021. A wish fulfilled, she finished out a quiet peaceful life near the water being taken care of by her daughter Sylvia and grandchildren Brooke and Riley.
Gloria was called home to fulfill her long-awaited role as a friend to all in heaven. She is certainly gathering all those that she loved dancing, twirling, laughing, and celebrating the life that she lived on earth. She leaves behind a legacy and light that will continue to shine down on those she loved.
A visitation for Gloria will be held Monday, December 19, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039, followed by a memorial service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
