Glenda Jean Neisner, lovingly known as Jean, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness. She was born on November 9, 1938, in Dangerfield, Texas, to Guy D. and Annie Mae (née Warren) Stiles. After losing her father at the tender age of six, Jean’s mother remarried, and the family moved to Longview, where her stepfather owned a café. It was there that Jean began working at just eight years old, standing on coke crates to reach the lunch counter. She often recalled how her young charm won her generous tips, a memory that always brought a smile to her face.
Jean’s journey through life was marked by both sorrow and immense joy. After the heartbreaking loss of her first child, Heather, she was blessed with her son, John. A devoted mother, Jean always regarded John as one of her greatest accomplishments. There was no prouder mother than Jean, whose love for her son knew no bounds.
In September 1981, Jean met the love of her life, Lew Neisner. Lew fondly joked that he moved quickly to win her heart before anyone else could. Their love story spanned 42 beautiful years, filled with unwavering devotion. They were a couple admired by many, always holding hands, caring for each other, and sharing a love that inspired those around them. Together, they collected antique glass, curating a stunning collection that adorned their home. They cherished the company of their dear friends Bob and Rita, dining together often until Rita’s passing last year. When Jean’s mother entered her golden years, Jean and Lew lovingly brought her into their home, ensuring she was well cared for. Even when additional care was needed, Jean visited her daily, a testament to her deep compassion and dedication as a daughter.
Jean dedicated over 40 years as a trusted family office manager and bookkeeper for the Keenan family. Her meticulous record-keeping and profound knowledge of their investments were legendary. She was more than an employee; she was a cornerstone of the family’s business affairs. Her tenacity, integrity, and commitment to doing what was right made her a force to be reckoned with. She mentored and guided colleagues with wisdom and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on those she worked with, including her dear friend Joyce and CPA Byron, who both credit her with shaping their careers.
Beyond her professional achievements, Jean had a remarkable green thumb, nurturing plants and orchids with skill and patience. She had a deep love for Akitas, raising and showing two magnificent dogs, Rachie and Nike. A talented baker, she delighted family and friends with her famous chocolate and pecan pies. A voracious reader, she devoured books at an astonishing pace, always eager for a new story. Her infectious laughter and sharp wit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Jean also had an eye for beautiful jewelry, always wearing unique and cherished pieces. She loved traveling and exploring new places, with some of her favorite trips being to New York City, California, and Alaska.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gerald Stiles, and her beloved daughter, Heather Herrington. She is survived by her devoted husband, Lew; her beloved son, John Herrington; her dear brother, Bill Stiles; her nephew, Jason Stiles and wife Trish; and countless friends and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.
Jean’s life was one of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to those she cared about. Her kindness, wisdom, and boundless love will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us always.
