Mrs. Williams was and is cherished as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Marion Jack Williams; her daughter, Wanda Herfarth and husband Fritz Herfarth; her son, Jack Glenn Williams and wife, Jeannette Williams; her grandchildren Lauren Smith and husband, Landon, Jaclyn Harrison and husband, Charlie, Daniel Williams and fiancée Sarah Parker and Kelly Williams; and her three great-grandchildren Jaidyn, Weston and Nolan Smith. She is also survived by her brother Duane Sims and wife Linda Sims; her sisters, Betty Groover and husband Walter Groover and Dorothy McDaniel and her husband Bill McDaniel. She is preceded in death by her parents, George Washington Sims and Esther Lee Stovall Sims; her daughter, Linda Lou Williams; and her brother Billy Ray Sims.
Georgia was a vivacious, kind, beautiful, hard-working and loving woman born and raised in Montgomery County, Texas. As the valedictorian of Richards School in Grimes County, Texas, she wrote an inspirational speech for her classmates. She married her high-school sweetheart, Dr. Jack Williams at the age of 17, and together they traveled the nation and world during his years of service with the Air Force. They have enjoyed 66 years of loving marriage.
Georgia was a long term member of the La Grange Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a strong passion for art and was a talented painter of landscapes and human interest pieces. She loved to read, particularly biographies of historical figures. An outstanding cook, she excelled in cooking and preparing meals of all cuisines, much to the delight of family and friends. She was an unfailing source of love, support and nurturing for her immediate and extended family. She is also remembered for her charming sense of humor and her ability to keep in daily communication with her children and family. Her family always knew she was thinking of them and cared about their well being.
Georgia’s family would like to thank Ms. Christine Nathan and her family for 23 years of dedication and support.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from two o’clock until five o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 10th of February, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 11th of February, at the Union Grove Baptist Church, 24380 FM 149, Richards, Texas.
The interment will follow at Union Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of customary remembrances, in Georgia’s name may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN, 38148.
