Frank grew up on the west side of Chicago in the neighborhood located at Polk and Damen streets. He attended Lane Tech Highschool and after his graduation in 1945, he was drafted into the Army to serve his country in World War II. Frank served stateside overseeing German prisoners of war, as the war in Europe had ended. He was a kind friend to the POWs and many of them gave him gifts that he cherished throughout his life. After the war, Frank worked for the Chicago Transit Authority spending his entire career at CTA and retiring in 1990. He was the devoted caretaker for his parents as they both died of long-term illnesses. He met his wife Anita who worked at the pharmacy where he picked up prescriptions for his mother. They married on November 6, 1965 and started their life together with Anita’s three children Renee, Richard and Ronita. Their son Frank was born the following year to complete the family. He was often heard saying “…..let’s do it for the kids.” He served as little league coach for his son. He affectionately thought of his team as the “bad news bears,” as he took a team of underdogs and won the championship. He opened up the world for his family taking them on trips across the country and annual vacations to Sunny Brook Farm in Michigan. In his retirement, he and Anita purchased a home on a golf course in Las Vegas where they spent the winter months. This was their dream home. Frank was often heard to remark that “I don’t have a lot of money, but I live like a millionaire.” After 27 wonderful years of living between Chicago and Las Vegas, he and Anita moved to Houston, Texas. Frank was a kind, warm person. He will be long remembered by his family for his love and generosity
