Florence Marie Wooten (Butler), affectionately known as Mawmaw, passed away on June 26, 2024, at the age of 86 in Katy, TX. Born on January 18, 1938, in Thorndale, TX, she was a devoted mother and grandmother whose life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family.
Florence dedicated much of her life to raising her children and grandchildren, a role she cherished deeply. While she spent some time working at bakeries, her true vocation was being the heart and foundation of her family. Her family values and dedication were described by those who knew her as insurmountable.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Richard Wooten, sister, June Page along with her life partner Dan Richter, and sons Thomas (Beau) Nichols Jr., and Troy Nichols along with his life partner, Tammie Bartlett. Florence was a proud grandmother to Penny Scott and husband Jason Scott, Cassy Nichols, and Stephen Nichols, and she was blessed with many great-grandchildren, and even great-great grandchildren. Her legacy of love and care is evident in the family she nurtured so lovingly.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Daisy Synatzske and Floyce Butler, stepfather Charlie A. Synatzske; her late husband, Tommy Nichols; son, Steve Nichols; brothers, Larry Butler, Sonny Butler Jr., Bill Butler, and Gary Butler; grandsons, Beau Allen Nichols and Kris Bumpers; and great-grandson, Justin Nichols.
The family has entrusted Earthman Resthaven in Houston, TX, with the funeral arrangements. Florence's life will be celebrated and remembered for the profound impact she had on her family and all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
A visitation for Florence will be held Friday, July 5, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A funeral service will occur Friday, July 5, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A graveside service will occur Friday, July 5, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
