It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fernando De La Vega, age 91, on April 3, 2025. He was born in Mexico City, Mexico, on September 18, 1933. Fernando's journey to the United States began in 1956 when he moved to California. This is where he laid the foundation for his American life and started his family.
Fernando later became a long-time resident of Houston, Texas, contributing to the community in countless ways. He was a devoted Catholic and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where he actively participated in various charitable endeavors.
A true enthusiast of life, Fernando was known for his love of soccer, his deep appreciation for tequila, and his remarkable ability to repair and restore old things. Fernando’s skill and patience in bringing things back to life were unparalleled.
Above all, Fernando was dedicated to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Lupe De La Vega, and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever treasure the lessons he imparted and the memories they created together. His spirit of generosity and kindness will live on in their hearts.
Fernando's contributions to his family, church, and community will never be forgotten. A private funeral service will be held for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Fernando’s memory to the Knights of Columbus or a charity of your choice.
May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy will continue through the lives he touched.
