Evelyn Marie Mathis

Evelyn Marie Kuhn Mathis, 93, passed away April 12, 2016, in Tomball, TX. She was born December 11, 1922 in Houston, TX to William Henry "Buddy" and Ruby Onetta Attaway Kuhn. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Dean (Jake) Mathis, Sr., sister Damian (Agnes) Kuhn C.V.I., and parents. She leaves behind her sisters; Doris Olexa, Ruby Jane (Ken) Porche and Carliss Ann Carney; brother-in-law Sam Mathis and their families. She is survived by her sons; Jimmy (Susan) Mathis, Gregory (Connie) Mathis, Eddie Mathis, Chris (Ava) Mathis, and her daughters; Nancy (Charles) Copeland, and Rosemary Epperson. "MaMaw Evelyn" will be greatly missed by her 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 PM, Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Forest Park Lawndale, with a Rosary Prayer Service at 1:30 PM in the Colonial Chapel, followed by a Memorial Service. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Pall bearers will be her grandsons. The family wishes to thank the skilled nursing staff at the Heights of Tomball and A-MED Hospice for their attentive care. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Scholarship Fund of Incarnate Word Academy.
