Evelyn Beth Hauer Edwards 90 year’s young went to her eternal home to be with the Lord on November 10, 2019. She was born in Amarillo, Texas on the 19th of April 1929, to Esther May Grider Hauer and Frank Albert Hauer as their second daughter and child, with an older daughter, Jasmine, 11 years her senior. Beth was brought up in the Baptist church and in giving her life to the Lord was saved at the age of 9.
Beth was married for 30 years and raised her 3 daughters, Julie Hoover, Marla Deibert, and Tanya Edwards in the Presbyterian Church as her husband Joseph Edwards was brought up and attended. Beth was very active in the Presbyterian Church teaching children, the youth and adult Sunday school classes at her time with the Presbyterian Church. She also served as Spiritual Life for the United Women’s Ministry over the Gulf Coast District and later was part of a 3 panel Leadership Training Team. And lastly, she was chosen to attend the United Presbyterian Women’s National Meeting at Purdue University in Indiana with 5,000 other women. Beth was asked to attend this same convention the following year and attended many more conventions and meetings over the years. During the course of her travels God broadened and matured Beth for his service.
Beth began attending Braeswood Assembly of God Church and in 1978 became a member. Four years later she began her career as the church receptionist and worked full time until her passing. She became very involved in the church, as well as, one of the founders of the “Women of Power Sunday School Class” along with Betty Vines and Jessie Marshall, which has impacted, touched, and inspired so many women over the years. She was still teaching this class up until her passing, along with Frankie Solomon and Edith Obioha.
Beth loved the beautiful Texas Hill Country and enjoyed the wildflowers and painted Churches of Schulenburg, TX. She adored spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never met a stranger and was always excited to tell any and everyone about her Jesus. Beth leaves behind her adorable chihuahua dog, Rufus, who she loved very much. He was so excited to actually accompany her to church several times on a work day. Little Rufus misses her dearly.
Beth is preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Hoover in 2008 and sister, Jasmine June Peacock in 2007. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Marla Deibert and her husband Mark, and Tanya Edwards, along with 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, Robert Hoover son of Julie Hoover; Justin Deibert (Alyssa), children Blaine and Taylor, Lance Deibert (Laura), children Narrah and Daniel, and Lauren Blume, child Tripp are all children of Marla and Mark Deibert; Kimberly Abel (Chase), child Laurel, Kristen Herzik (Mark), child Aedan, and Kayla Murray Dudley (Rob) are all children of Tanya Edwards.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family during a visitation from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 22nd of November 2019, in the sanctuary of Braeswood Assembly of God Church, 10611 Fondren Road in Houston.
A funeral service is to be conducted at half-past nine o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 23rd of November 2019, in the sanctuary of Braeswood Assembly of God Church, 10611 Fondren Road in Houston.
Immediately following all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent fellowship hall.
The interment will follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
