Erlinda Bernal Valencia, a beloved daughter, sister, matriarch, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on November 14, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on April 19, 1929, in Waco, Texas, Erlinda spent much of her life in Houston, where she was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The second eldest of 10 children, Erlinda was deeply loved by her family. She had a generous heart and was known for opening her home to many, always surrounded by the love of those who knew her. Her legacy of warmth, kindness, and devotion will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have met her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Luis M. Valencia, and four sons: George Valencia, Edward Valencia, Arthur Valencia, and Luis Valencia Jr. She will be laid to rest alongside them.
She is survived by her son Robert Valencia and wife Diane Valencia; daughter Linda Valencia (who was her devoted caregiver); granddaughter Elizabeth (Leisa) Stefan, daughter of Linda De Leon Valencia and partner Rey Ruiz; granddaughter Erica Valencia Colunga and children Amber Valencia, Jade Colunga and Robert Colunga; grandson George Valencia, Jr.; granddaughter Elisia Valencia and children Nyellie Quintana and Reyna Valencia; grandson Miguel Valencia; and granddaughter Christine Leal and husband Francisco Alonso.
Due to Erlinda's unexpected passing, a GoFundMe page has been set up for funeral expenses. Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing the link, would mean so much to us in this time of grief.
