He lived there until he moved to Nuevo Laredo where he met and married Concepcion "Connie" Gonzalez on August 14, 1971. They had four children and nine grandchildren.
He was a passionate reader, poet, singer, and dancer. He enjoyed the arts, opera, musicals, and comedy. He loved philosophy, science, and religious debates. His trade was that of an upholsterer of more than 50 years and dabbled in mechanics and computers.
He is survived by his wife Connie, his children, Veronica (Juan) Onofre, Nora (Arnulfo) Olivares, Sara (Walter) Betancur, and Rosbil (Valerie) Martinez, his grandchildren from oldest to youngest, Ariana Olivares, Angel Morales, Jordan Martinez, Aron Olivares, Renee Martinez, Laureano Enrique Onofre, Samantha Martinez, Mia Martinez, and Sebastian Rey Betancur. Along with many nieces and nephews who referred to him as "Tio" and those who knew him as "Compadre" or "Quique"
In lieu of a religious verse, Enrique would have preferred to quote Harry Potter. “Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love,” Dumbledore says in chapter 35 of The Deathly Hallows.
