Emily had a generous heart and loved to help others. She spent her time teaching, nurturing, and caring for many preschoolers that came through her classroom. She had undoubtedly influenced so many young learners during her time as a teacher. Another passion of hers was creating beautiful paintings that she shared with her friends and family. From landscapes to portraits, her home was never scarce of her wonderful creations. She continued her beautiful works of art until her final days. Matthew 25:40 says, “Truly I tell you whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me”. Emily so strongly believed in God’s word that she volunteered at Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) for many years. She was well-loved by many and became known as the “shoe lady” at KCM. She supported her husband in ministry for 60 years and was a devoted member of Grace Fellowship Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Boyd Vincent Baker, sons Larry Boyd Baker, Gary Wayne Baker, Ronald Lynn Baker, daughters Emily Anne Wingate, Laura Lee Baker, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sisters Virginia Isaac, Rosalie Chambers, June Fittante, Joyce Russell, Rosemary Gardner, Linda Fittante, Brenda Weekes, and brother Carl Fittante.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Mary Borkowski, Margaret Fittante, Pete Fittante, Gordon Fittante, Dolores Goss, Richard Fittante, Janet Lacey, and Roger Fittante.
Her kind and God-fearing heart has left a lasting impression on all she has encountered in her 95 years and she will be greatly missed.
A public visitation for Emily will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Grace Fellowship Church, 2655 S Mason Rd, Cinco Ranch, TX 77450, followed by a funeral service from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Reception following immediately after funeral service.
