Eloisa Garcia Sanchez

Eloisa Garcia Sanchez, age 91, passed peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2022. A resident of Houston since 1961, Eloisa began her life in Morelia Michoacan, Mexico in 1931. She and her friend Anita traveled through the countryside, traversing many challenges along the way, to make it to the United States to make a better life for themselves and Eloisa’s future family. Upon arriving in Houston, Eloisa was blessed with her first daughter, Rosa Maria Garcia, while working for Dr. Louis and LaVerl Dailey caring for their home in South Hampton Place for her first 9 years in Houston. While working for the Dailey’s, she met a young and spunky Mr. Anastacio aka"Frank" Sanchez, who was also working for the family. Their love for each other created a Brady Bunch of a family, including Rosa and with Frank’s children Rudy, Ruben, Norma, and Anastacio Jr. Not much later the families were truly connected when Eloisa’s second daughter, Joanna Leigh Sanchez, was born to her and Frank. Eloisa continued to work through the years, primarily for the Harris County Hospital District with over 25 years of service until retiring in 1996. After retirement she spent time most of her time tending to her her rose bushes, cleaning the house that she was proud to say she paid for herself, attending church on Sunday, caring for her grandchildren, and cooking. Eloisa was a fantastic cook and who would prepare her traditional homemade recipes such as tamales, pozole, menudo and so much more! A little known fact is that her tamales were so good that they were once sold in a restaurant located in the Upper Kirby area in the 1980's. Although this did not span out to her opening a restaurant, she continued to use her talent to feed her growing family. Eloisa was very proud of her Mexican heritage and always made sure to instill that pride in her family. She never forgot her humble beginnigs and always taught us to be proud of who we are and to always work for what you want. She did not take handouts and made sure to tell all of us that everything she gained in her lifetime, she aquired not with education or a degree, but with hard work, dedication, and most important being resposible for her family.

Eloisa is also survived by her sister Amalia Valle Mota, and several nieces and nephews living in Mexicali, Mexico. Additionally, survived by six grandchildren – Sean, Erica, Laura, Armand, Santino, and Alessandra, and five great grandchildren – Sean Jr., Jasmine, Lucas, Vivien, and Emma.
