Edward Joseph Crosson, Jr. joined his soulmate of 69 years in heaven on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the age of 91. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. He leaves a wonderful legacy of generosity and love of family that touched and influenced the lives of all who knew him.
Edward was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on June 23, 1925 to Edward and Margaret Crosson. After graduating from Southeast Catholic High School, he was inducted into the United States Navy and served during World War II. While stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Air Station he met the love of his life, Laverne Grom. They were married on August 24, 1946 and began their life together in Chicago Ill.
Ed began his career in 1946 with the Walgreen Company for whom he worked until his retirement in 1982. After several relocations they permanently relocated to Sharpstown in Houston, TX in 1967, where they remained until Laverne’s passing in November 2015.
In retirement, Ed loved time spent with his family, especially holding babies, and woodworking. He and Laverne also spent many years traveling the US and especially loved their visits to New Mexico.
Ed is survived by his five children, Kathy Rios and husband Sonny, of Houston; Sue Schnee and husband Bob of Phoenix AZ; Ed Crosson and wife Diana, of Cypress TX; Peggy Smith and husband Bruce, of Houston; Jim Crosson and wife Cindy, of Friendswood, TX; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, sister Ellen MacMahon, Oakland, NJ, and sister in law Marilyn Redmond, Tucson AZ.
The family will receive friends at a vigil service on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Brookside Funeral Home – Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095. A rosary prayer will begin at 7:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 10:30 am at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Drive, Houston, TX 77065. Reception will be held in the Community Center following the mass.
Interment to take place on Friday January 20, 2017, from 10:00 am until 10:30 am at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
