Edelia Avila

Edelia was born to Manuel and Maria Avila, October 21, 1936 in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School class of 1957.

Edelia is survived by her two nieces, Helen Villasenor and Theresa Avila Hernandez and nephew by marriage Rafael Hernandez; great grandnephews, Jason Montes, Eric Montes, Carlos Villasenor, and David Mendoza by marriage; great grandnieces, Nina Villasenor-Mendoza, Gloria Villasenor by marriage and Lisa Montes by marriage. She also leaves 10 great-great grandnephews and great-great grandnieces.

She was preceded in death by Mary Helen Villasenor, sister, Lawrence Villasenor, brother-in-law, Manuel Avila Jr., brother, Sarah Avila, sister-in-law, Roy Avila, brother, Maria Avila, sister-in-law, and nephews Arthur Villasenor, and Roy Avila, Jr.

Edelia worked in the retail, antiques, and banking industries but most of her working history was helping her father run his neighborhood grocery store. She worked by his side for many years.

Edelia passions were art and reading. She was an extremely independent and private person that had a deep profound love for her family.
