Dorothy (Dottie) McDonald, age 94, joyfully entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. She was born January 1, 1928 in Houston, Texas to Ozella and Claude Miller. It was on the Sam Houston State University campus that she met the love of her life in a coffee shop, William (Mack) McDonald. Dottie & Mack were married on May 24, 1948. That same week she graduated from SHSU majoring in Choral Music. Her love for music continued as a teacher of middle school choral music for 17 years. Dottie was blessed with two daughters, Diane and Denise. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother, doting grandmother, crazy-in-love great-grandmother and faithful friend. Dottie made her love for the Lord, family, church family and friends known to anyone who would listen. Dottie was a member of West University Baptist Church just shy of 50 years. During that time, she was a member of the WUB choir, served as a Young Married Adult leader along with Mack and rocked countless babies in the nursery.
Dottie will be greatly missed by her daughters Diane Klinkerman and husband Harvey, daughter Denise Fuchs and husband Jim, grandchildren Paige Phillips, Liesl Klinkerman, Heidi Klinkerman, and Karis Zemanek and husband Ryan, and great grandsons Trey Gilbert, Greyton Gilbert, Nash Zemanek and Lyle Zemanek.
A private graveside and burial was held prior to the memorial service which will be held at 10:30, Saturday, October 22, 2022 at West University Baptist Church, 6218 Auden, Houston, Texas 77005. A reception will follow in the Welcome Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Star of Hope Mission, Administrative Offices, 4848 Loop Central Dr., Suite 500, Houston, Texas 77081 or to the Senior Adult Ministry of West University Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank Brookdale West University, Clarewood House Extended Care and Houston Hospice for the loving care given to Dottie.
