Dottie was born to her parents, Erwin and Dorothy Luhman in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After graduating from Purdue University with a degree in speech therapy, she moved to Chicago, Illinois with her husband, William Paul Glezen, where he was enrolled in medical school. Dottie pursued her interest in speech therapy at Homewood Elementary School, where her pioneering methods were a noted success.
After raising her children in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Dottie and Paul moved to Houston where she supported Paul with his work at Baylor College of Medicine Influenza Research Center and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Houston.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; by her brother, William Luhman, and sister, Laurel “Lolly” Luhman Smith. She is survived by her husband, W. Paul Glezen, of Missouri City, Texas; son, Paul (Cathy Yu) of Shoreline, Washington; daughter, Laurie (Greg Gahm) of Greenwood Village, Colorado; grandchildren, Claire Gahm of Houston, Tyler and Becca Gahm and their daughter Seychelle of Lone Tree, Colorado, and Meg Gahm Stout (John Stout) of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A memorial service and celebration of her life is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 26th of August, at First Presbyterian Church of Houston, 5300 Main Street in Houston, where The Rev. Dr. Bill Heston will officiate.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main St., Houston, TX 77004.
