Donald Ray Weaver

Donald Ray Weaver, born July 19, 1935 to Jim and Lena Weaver in Tenaha, Texas. He was the youngest of 5 children. Don grew up in Corrigan, Texas. While attending Corrigan High School, he played basketball, baseball, and football. He was class President of his graduating class.

After graduation, Don enlisted in the Marines. His time served was in Hawaii, during the Korean War.

Upon his return to civilian life, he joined his family in Washington state where he worked as a fireman at Whidbey Island Naval Base.

Due to some things in his life, he decided to return to Texas. Upon his return, he addressed his education, attending Stephen F Austin and the University of Houston. Here he acquired his education in Law Enforcement. Don joined the Police Academy and department where he served for 21 years.

During his career as a Police officer he worked in Traffic Division, Safety Division, Security for Mayor Fred Hofheinz, and ended his career in the Criminal Intelligence Division.

Upon retiring from HPD, Don furthered his support for his family by taking a job as a security consultant for Wedge International. After 12 years of jet setting around the world, he decided it was time to fully retire.

Don married Dorothy Riley on October 24th, 1959. Dorothy said if God meant for her to meet someone, God would send him to her front door. Close enough, he was across the street at her best friend's home. It was a quick 3 month courtship, August to October. They were blessed with 2 children; Randy and Donna. There 59 years of marriage was filled with love, adventure, and challenges.

Don converted to Catholicism in 1969, baptized at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He was Confirmed in 1994. Don was a lecturer, usher, Webelos leader, served on Home and School Board, and a member of The Men's Club. He lived a Christian life full of integrity.

Don is proceeded in death by his parents, Jim and Lena Weaver, his 3 brothers Calvin, Millard, and Clifford, his sister Claudius, and his son Randy. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughter Donna, grandson Shelby and granddaughter Katie.

Don will truly and deeply be missed.
