Donald Ray (Duck) Blunt

Donald Ray Blunt entered this life on April 9, 1956, to the late Johnny Blunt and Mattie Lee Simpson. He was seven of eleven children. He grew up on the Northside of Houston, Texas, and was known to many as “Duck”. He attended school in HISD, Sam Houston was the last school he attended. There is where he met JoAnn Anderson.

Donald Ray and JoAnn wedded on January 28, 1985. From that union came (2) children, Daniel Anderson & Priscilla Blunt. He had (1) son Donald Ray Johnson from a previous relationship. Donald Ray would go on to have other children. He was very close to his mother and after her passing, he was faithful in visiting her grave and placing flowers every Mother’s Day and her birthday (Christmas Day).

Donald Ray was not scared of working and actually enjoyed working with his hands. He could be found fixing and repairing many things including cars. His love for vehicles lead him to work at Mister Carwash. While not afraid of getting dirty, you would not find him that way. Donald Ray stayed clean and starched along with a fresh scent whenever you saw him. He contributed his style to his older brothers, Mobile especially.

Donald Ray was very social and was seen always smiling and laughing when around his family & friends. His love lies heavily with his children and grandchildren. He could be seen spending time with them all and keeping them connected throughout their life. He rededicated his life to Christ and joined Faith Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of his cousin, now pastor, Superintendent Shannon Jefferson.

Donald Ray departed this life on August 12, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, (3) brothers; O’Neal Blunt, Mobile Blunt, and Leroy Blunt, (4) sisters; Nancy Sexton, Olivia Brinson, Erin Jenkins, & Maria Doublin. Left to cherish his memory (9) children; Donald Ray Johnson, Daniel Anderson, Priscilla Blunt, Nikita Trishell, Lasha Hayes, Lakesha Hayes, Ronald Gray, Stephanie Gray (Alex) and Tawanna Moss (John), (6) grandchildren; Xavier Hayes, Saltria Nwabuona, Tatina Moss, Alex Rose, Jibril Rose, & Amaru Rose, (2) brothers; McNeil Blount & David Goffney, (1) sister; Ardella Huffman (Lee), (2) brothers-in-law; Willie Doublin & Samuel Jenkins, (2) sisters-in-law; Margaret Blunt & Alice Blunt, (1) aunt, Charlene Jefferson and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
