He is survived by his mother, Brunilda Mendoza Ortiz; brother, Francisco Franco Ortiz Jr.; sister-in-law, Natalia B. Ortiz; sister, Brunilda Ortiz; nephew, Liam Alexander Martin; and his extended family Michael Curtis Burkett, Deanna Kay Burkett and Alexandra Jazgul Rachel Burkett. He is also survived by his Chihuahua Chloe, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In addition to his grandparents, he is preceded in death by his father Francisco Franco Ortiz Sr.
Demetrio graduated from Aldine Senior High School and attended Baylor University. He was a Manager for Champs Sporting Goods for many years and ended his career as an Animal Control officer for Harris County. He enjoyed collecting comic books and Spiderman memorabilia, attending the symphony, attending movie premieres, and listening to audiobooks. He was a devout member of St. Martha's Catholic Church in Kingwood,Texas. Demetrio was a loving, humorous, compassionate, intelligent, responsible and fun loving person. He was a dedicated caregiver to his mother and a dedicated uncle to his nephew Liam, and integral member of his family. He will be missed.
Service arrangements are as follows, Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm visitation and viewing. Rosary Vigil will begin at 7:00pm with Deacon Ruben Manosalba presiding. A funeral service will be held October 18, 2024 10:00 am Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park 13747 Eastex Freeway, 77039.
Serving as pallbearers are Carlos F. Zepeda, Guillermo Garza Jr., and Michael C. Burkett.
