During her early years, Delores confessed her love and belief in Christ and was baptized at Mt. Sinai Church in Houston, TX. She was the definition of a true virtuous woman, Proverbs 31.
Delores attended 8th Avenue Elementary, Harper Junior High, and received her diploma from Booker T. Washington in 1963. She continued her education at Texas Southern University to study Art under the legendary Professor John T. Biggers. She became a Licensed Vocational Nurse and later retired from the medical field.
Delores was one of the first black women hired by Southwestern Bell. She also worked for Intercontinental Airport. She was a substitute teacher for various schools in HISD. Delores worked for Life Flight and the call center for Hermann Hospital (Medical Center). In her later work years, using her LVN license, she worked for St. Luke's Hospital and Spring Branch.
In Delores’ early adulthood, she was introduced to Billy Ray Williams Sr.They were joined in matrimony in 1967. During this time, Billy Sr. served in the United States Army prior to meeting her and later on worked for Southern Pacific Railroad. To this union, on October 13, 1968, they were blessed with a son named Billy Ray Williams Jr. Billy Sr. preceded her in death. On August 30, 1973, Delores was blessed with her second son named Christopher DeJon Williams Sr. She loved spending time with her boys,her grandchildren and her family.
Delores loved shopping, taking care of others, mentoring for the love of Christ, art, fashion, decorating, baking homemade cakes, and playing the piano.
Delores leaves to cherish her memories, two sons; Billy and Christopher Williams; one granddaughter, Laila Williams; one grandson, Christopher Williams Jr.; one brother, Ronnie Shackleford (Kisha); bonus daughters,Angeria Savoy, Natasha Hollie, and Felecia Watson Francois; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other family and friends.
