Debbie Kay Sorsby, born in Midland, Texas on the 22nd of August 1953, passed away peacefully in her home in Sugar Land on the 4th of March 2020, with her devoted husband Rick by her side. She was 66 years of age.
Debbie lived a life full of time spent with friends, family and doing the things she loved. With her green thumb and eye for creativity, there’s nothing she couldn’t grow or create. She spent countless hours in her impressive craft room and amazed people with her handmade cards and intricate scrapbooks. Debbie was known to always give the best gifts. She loved spending time at the family ranch, and her love for entertaining her friends there lives on in the details she left behind. Some of her favorite nights were spent at the rodeo with friends, and she loved getting decked out in her turquoise and silver and all her cowgirl gear. She had a talent for accessorizing, and loved all things that sparkle.
Debbie was a woman who was strong in her faith, and met many lifelong friends through bible studies. After becoming empty-nesters, Rick and Debbie began numerous adventures, often vacationing with friends and making memories. Bunco nights were more than a hobby as she made forever friends, her “Bunco Babes.” She loved her girls shopping trips in Round Top. Her enthusiasm for life and her West Texas slang will be forever missed.
She was preceded in death by her father Rollin and mother Violet Davis and is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Rick Sorsby; her children, Lynne Brace and her husband Jason, Crystal Ricker and her husband Jason, Gary Sorsby and his wife Liz, and Travis Sorsby and his wife Bailey; and her nine wonderful grandchildren, Logan, Ashtyn and Barrett Brace; Presley, Tesla and Jaylan Ricker; and Brooke and Audrey Sorsby and Bryson Sorsby. She is also survived by her brother, Don Davis and his wife Becky, her mother-in-law, Wanda Sorsby; brother-in-law, Lester Sorsby; sister-in-law, Carol Nedd and her husband Allen; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as her dear friends, “The Gang”.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 6th of March, in the library and grand foyer Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Following a private interment at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, a memorial service and celebration of her life is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 7th of March, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
