Deanna Sherwood Morgan, 80, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in Houston, Texas. Deanna was born in Salt Lake City, Utah- daughter of Gordon Alvin Sherwood and Anna De Ogilvie Sherwood- the oldest of three children.
She received her education from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Deanna met her husband, Howard Ray Morgan, in high school through a mutual friend. Howard lived in Logan, Utah and Deanna lived in Salt Lake City, Utah. He would come to Salt Lake City several times a month for golf tournaments and they would date. In her sophomore year of college, she transferred from the University of Utah to Utah State University in Logan, Utah. They were married on December 21, 1961. Deanna taught elementary school age children for 45 years before she retired. Deanna enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, miniatures and raising dogs. She enjoyed traveling to Canada and London, England with Howard before he passed away in July of 1991, as well as taking family vacations with her grandchildren.
Deanna is survived by her daughter, Allison Anne Bessey and husband, Bret D. Bessey of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Cathy Morgan of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren- Megan Anne Reed and husband, Garrett Reed of Cypress, Texas; Christopher Brett Bessey and wife, Jasmine Bessey, of Cypress, Texas; and Courtney Nicole Morgan of Atlanta, Georgia; six great-grandchildren- Colton Morgan Reed, Madison Anne Reed, Londyn Nicole Bessey, Broox Christopher Bessey, Sadie Marie Reed and Braxton Christopher Bessey, all of Cypress, Texas; and her sister, Janice L. Sherwood.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ray Morgan, two sons- Brett Howard Morgan and Jeffrey Todd Morgan; sister, Marilyn Sherwood Scott; parents- Gordon Alvin Sherwood and Anna De Ogilvie Sherwood.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 10:00am at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
