David Ashton Willis was born on December 9, 1977 in Dallas, Texas to Clydell Robertson and Joyce (Willis) Robertson. He was the second of four children. David was raised and spent his younger years in the Oakwood, Butler, and Fairfield Communities, and then later continued his education at F.D. Roosevelt High School in Dallas, Texas.
David accepted Christ early in life and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church of Butler, Texas by Reverend Stephen Richards. He continued his Christian journey at St. Paul Baptist Church after moving to Dallas. After moving back to Houston in 2012, David often visited Cornerstone Faith of Deliverance and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. on February 14, 2016, he united in Holy Matrimony with Sarita Marie Collins in Houston, Texas. No children were born to this union.
David was a man who wore many hats, but two reigned supreme; being a pawpaw to his grandsons and making people laugh. David was one of the best storytellers and jokesters. He made a point to always keep people laughing, even in the most serious situations.
On June 18, 2023 at 12:52 p.m., David heard the call to come to rest and left this Earth on wings of angels, surrounded by those he loved most at the Memorial Hermann Hospital at the Texas Medical Center of Houston, Texas.
David is preceded in death by his father Clydell Robertson; grandparents, Theophilus (Sonny) and Rachel Bailey; sister, Tanya Robertson, his father-in-law, Anthony (Tony) Collins, and mother-in-law, Joyce Smith.
He leaves astonishing memories to be cherished by his wife, Sarita Collins-Willis; daughter, LaQwasha Willis of Dallas, Texas; mother, Joyce Willis Robertson of Desoto, Texas; sisters, Trackea Scott (Brian) od Desoto, Texas; Forena "Punkin" Robertson of Dallas, Texas, Tori Thompson (Fred) of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Clydell Willis of Mansfield, Texas, Derek Willis (Carlota) of Waxahachie, Texas, Clifford Robertson (LaCrystal) of Desoto, Texas, Rhonny Robertson of Dallas, Texas, Robert Shed (Stephanie) of Butler, Texas; sisters-in-law, Samuriel Booker, Alexandra Pearl Collins both of Houston, Texas; mother-in-law, Analiza Collins of Houston, Texas; three grandsons, Amari, Jonathan and Sir Micah Brown; three godsons, Ethan Fisher, Conald (Trae "Bird) Hill III and Jeremiah Beason, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
