Curt was born on March 2, 1956, to John Curtis Fletcher and Shirley Seibold Fletcher in Odessa, Texas. Curt spent his childhood growing up throughout West Texas and England. He was profoundly influenced by his beloved grandparents, David “Pop” and Erie “Meme” Seibold, who provided him with unwavering support and love throughout his childhood. Curt graduated high school from The American School of London in 1974 and went on to study Marketing at Texas Tech University. While at Texas Tech University, Curt was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and served as President. During his time at Texas Tech University, Curt met Peggy Perkins. Curt and Peggy married in 1979 and had three children: Julie, Leslie, and John. Curt was incredibly proud of all three children, reveled in their successes, and felt fulfilment in seeing the outstanding adults they have become. He loved them dearly.
Upon graduating from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, he started his first job in the Oilfield as a Mud Engineer, which led him to an early successful career with the Hughes Oil Tool Company. He left Hughes as the International Sales Manager in 1988 to become the Co-Founder of Gray Engineered Oil Tools, a successful manufacturing company that provided drilling equipment to oilfields across the globe.
In 2008, Curt sold his company and retired shortly afterwards. Curt spent his time enjoying fishing, hunting, ranching, shooting sporting clays, and ham radio. Curt was a lifelong Texas Tech Football fan and some of his favorite memories were gamedays at Jones AT&T Stadium cheering on his Red Raiders with Peggy, his children, and friends. He also cherished spending time with his three children and five grandchildren. Curt was a constant presence and supporter in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. He never missed the chance to cheer them on at their games, dance recitals, and school performances.
Curt was predeceased by his parents, John Curtis Fletcher and Shirley Seibold Fletcher. Curt is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy Fletcher, his children Julie Fletcher Grandt (Scott), Leslie Fletcher Mendenhall (Mark), and John Fletcher (Kathryn), and his beloved grandchildren Madeline Grandt, Elizabeth Grandt, Molly Mendenhall, Luke Mendenhall, and John Jackson Fletcher. He is also survived by his sister Terri Austin (Alan) and niece Carolyn Shepko (Jonathan).
Curt will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather “Pop Pop”, and dear friend to many.
