David Alan Dickinson left this world to meet the Lord on the morning of Dec. 11, 2022. He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing. David was born Aug 26, 1960 in Fall River, MA. He grew up in New Orleans and Houma, Louisiana. He attended St. Gregory grade school. He was a graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School and Nicholls State University.
David grew up in the house of his aunt Leona and uncle John English, along with their children, Winston and Woody. David and his mother lived with the English family most of David’s young life into adulthood. He commonly referred to Winston and Woody as his brothers. David met the love of his life, Gina Scarbrough Dickinson, in 1984 at Camp Kappe, a Catholic Retreat Center. They were married May 31, 1985 (37 years). They have one son, Joshua, and one grandchild, Charley Rose.
David was a leader in his church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Houston, TX where he was an Instituted Acolyte. David is known to have a “servant’s heart”. He and Gina worked tirelessly as Domestic members of The Brothers and Sisters of Charity at Little Portion preparing for countless gatherings, concerts, and community events through the years including fundraising for St. Clare Monastery in Houston. David’s passions are his family, his church, genealogy research, and his Houston Astros.
David is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Dickinson, his mother, Emily Elizabeth Devine Dickinson, his Father-in Law, Rodney Scarbrough, and his Mother-in-Law, Barbara Scarbrough. He is survived by his wife, Gina, his son, Joshua, Joshua’s wife, Jennifer, and his granddaughter, Charley Rose.
Vigil/Visitation will be Thursday Dec 15 beginning at 7:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 6646 Addicks Satsuma Dr. Houston, TX 77084. Funeral Mass will be Friday Dec 16 at 11:30 AM, also at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton followed by the burial at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079
Following the burial, there will be a reception at 2:00 PM back at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Everyone is welcome to attend any or all of the services and reception.
