Daniel Joseph Rudroff

Daniel J. Rudroff, of Houston, Texas passed away on Monday September 28, 2020 at Houston Methodist Hospital Medical Center, after a courageous battle with COVID 19 virus. Dan, a beloved husband and a cherished father, filled his 76 years with life and love, and leaves a treasured legacy of achievements and memories for his family, friends and co-workers.

Dan was born on April 27, 1944 in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was the only child to the late Anthony Rudroff and Gertrude (Krieg) Rudroff who was raise on a Black Angus cattle farm in Rich Fountain, Missouri. Dan attended Scared Heart School in Rich Fountain, Missouri, he attended for two years at St Thomas Aquinas School in Hannibal, Missouri and graduated from Fatima High School in Westphalia, Missouri in 1962. He completed his education in order: U.S Marine Corps Supply Management and NCO school, David Rankin Technical College, South County Electrical Institute, Molenpah Engineering School of Hydraulics, Houston Community College, Daniel Ind. School of Measurement, Process and Process Instrumentation, Fluid Flow and Instrumentation.

Dan enlisted into the U.S Marines Corps from 1962 thru 1965 he earned the rank of Corporal during the Vietnam War and was on the USS Iwo Jima in the Gulf of Tokin as a sharp shooter and picking wounded advisors from Vietnam and bringing them on board the Iwo Jima. After his service in the U.S. Marines he moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he met his wife Patricia (Pattie) A. Rachel and they were married at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on September 2, 1968. They were married for 52 years before his death. After living in Kirkwood, Missouri they made the move to Houston, Texas in 1980.

Living in Houston, Texas is where Dan's career took off in the field of oil and gas industry. Dan had over 30 years of domestic and international experience in process, and gas and oil custody transfer flow measurement in the oil and gas industry. He was an expert in engineering and fabrication of gas and oil measurement systems. He traveled to many countries many times over in his career. He has worked as Service Manager of International Sales, Project Engineer, Project Manager, Sales and Marketing Manager for companies in Houston and Germany, for large oil field measurement focused companies, ending as Chief Operating Officer for WFMS Inc. His achievements in the field of oil and gas industry is so numerous and too long to list. Dan has given classes on Measurement of Oil and Gas at almost all of the industry schools in the United States and in several countries. His many classes and presentations through out his career were always well attended for his knowledge and his field of experiences. He was also a valued Consultants to many people and businesses. Dan has written hundreds of articles and papers on Oil, Gas and Multiphase Measurement which were published in major trade magazines world wide. Also, as of to date Dan has several Patents that have already been granted by the United States Paten and Trademark Office.

Many agree that Dan was a very special man, kindhearted and patient with an abundance of knowledge. A humble man and the very definition of a gentleman personified with a sense of humor to top it off. He was a mentor to young and old for many years. Spending time with Dan always served as a reminder that to gain the most pleasure from life one has to embrace only the most important elements of life, is family and treating people exactly how one wants to be treated, never giving up hope and remaining both focused and determined to meet one's goals in life.

Dan going into retirement at 76 years young had still, many plans and ideas he wanted to complete. He loved what he did, the challenges it had and enjoyed working, helping and teaching others and meeting new people. Dan dedicated his life to the oil and gas industry and to his family and did a great job doing both. He loved his wife and family and instilled in his two sons a love of learning and working hard, high moral standards and the courage to tackles problems head on.

With his strong faith in hoping that everyone will go forward with their lives, to continue to work hard and to keep things interesting and most of all to stay safe.

A private family graveside service will be held at at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the COVID-19 Infectious Disease Research Fund at Methodist Hospital, P.O. Box 4384, Houston, TX 77210-4384.
