Daniel Patrick Crosby, 22, of Houston, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2012. Dan was born on April 26, 1989 in Houston, Texas. He was the only of the Crosby family who was a native Texan and took great pride in displaying it, often wearing cowboy boots with his diapers. He was a rambunctious youngster with a delight for doing daring things. Later, in the Boy Scouts, his penchant for doing things no one else would do earned him a song entitled “Sounds Like Something Danny Would Do!” He loved working with his hands and had his own workbench by the time he was 6. Dan grew close to his grandfather on his mother’s side and loved spending time with him on the farm in Virginia. Dan was a member of Troop 1296 Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout rank. Dan attended Copeland Elementary and Aragon Middle School, and graduated from Langham Creek High School in 2008. He was a member of the high school band for his sophomore and junior year and played bass saxophone. Dan attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and Lone Star College. He worked for DeNeef Construction Chemicals as a laboratory assistant and showed great skill in all aspects of his work, from making samples for demonstrations to working in the plant. He loved working with his mother at DeNeef and they had many pleasant times driving into work and drinking coffee and making up songs as they went along. Dan’s skill with all things technical made him a valuable resource for us all, no matter what it was.
Dan leaves many friends and family, including his father, Charles Robert Crosby III, his mother Vicki Cassada Crosby, his brother Robert Norman Crosby, all of Houston, Texas, his paternal grandmother Marcia Moree Crosby of North Palm Beach, Florida, his maternal grandmother Dolores Triplett Cassada of Asheville, North Carolina, his dear friends Heather Paulson and Stan Jones of Houston, Texas, his paternal aunt and uncle Ginger and Bill Grimm and paternal cousin Karen Parker of Winter Park, Florida, his maternal uncle and aunt, Norman and Kathy Cassada, of Asheville, North Carolina, his cousins Travis and Jason Cassada of Asheville, North Carolina, and many more friends throughout Houston.
Visitation will be from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Brookside Funeral Home, 9149 Hwy 6 N Houston, TX 77095, phone (281)-345-6061. The funeral service will be at 11 A.M. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 and will be officiated by Dr. David Pendergrass.
