He was the youngest of thirteen children of James Levi McCarty and Mary Tennessee Thompson McCarty. He attended Temple High School in Temple, Texas where he met and later married his high school sweetheart Jane Geraldine Northern McCarty. After 48 years of service in the oilfields of Texas and Louisiana he retired from Exxon to Conroe, Texas. He is pre-deceased by his parents and wife as well as his twelve brothers and sisters. His siblings were Donna McCarty Angel, Robert Oscar McCarty, Abbie McCarty Cowdrey, Claude McCarty, Catherine McCarty Carson, Clyde T McCarty, James Roy McCarty, Sr, Mabel McCarty Holland, Edward Clarence McCarty, Guy McCarty, Amon Verl McCarty, Jimmie Tennessee McCarty Madden. He is also predeceased by his daughter in law, Sharon Lynell Westmoreland McCarty and former son-in-law Fred Leonard Haugh, Jr. He is survived by his son Larry Dan McCarty and wife Sherrie McCarty, his daughter Betty Louise McCarty Haugh Wolf and husband Gene Wolf; and his daughter Gerry McCarty Wells. His five grandchildren Dana Ann McCarty Morales and husband Dan Morales, David Edward McCarty and wife, Jessica McCarty, Dawn Wells Soper, Daniel Robert Wells and wife, Emily Dietrich Wells, and Jason Cary Haugh and wife, Christina Hogue Haugh. He is also survived by his six great grandchildren are Kristen Morales, Andrea Morales, John Dominic “Jett” Soper, Leslie McCarty Soper, Madeline Ann Marie Haugh and Jackson Cary Haugh and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed. Services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale on Saturday the 29th at 2:00pm with a visitation from 1:00pm until service time. Any donation in his name that you may choose to make may be made to the Cancer Society and Alzheimer’s Association.
