Cynthia Lynette Wright was born on May 28, 1963, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, to Lewis Wright Jr. and Esther L. McReynolds Wright. She grew up the oldest of five children and spent her childhood in Houston, Texas.
Cynthia gave her life to Christ at an early age at the Church of Christ where she received her Christian education and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.
While growing up in Houston, Texas, she attended the Houston Independent School District and graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School. In May 1981, Cynthia was awarded the Texas Southern University/Rice University dual Engineering Scholarship, which allowed her to study Math and Physics. In 1985, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Math and Physics from Texas Southern University and began her career as a Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten Teacher for HISD in 1985. She also worked as an Accounting Clerk and Reservations Agent for Continental Airlines in 1989. After earning her Chemical Process Technician Certification from San Jacinto College in 1993, she began a career as a Laboratory Technician at Fina Chemical (BayPort).
Cynthia dedicated her life to raising her beautiful daughter, Ebony L. Wright. She was a wonderful and loving mother and devoted grandmother. Her only daughter was a constant source of pride and joy.
She had a kind generous heart and made a multitude of friends everywhere. Cynthia left this life on February 1, 2024, after a courageous, long battle with cancer. She was passionate about helping others and sharing her knowledge. Her beautiful smile and positive attitude will be cherished by her love ones.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her parents, Lewis Wright Jr. and Esther L. McReynolds Wright (James); her devoted daughter, Ebony L. Wright (Adrian); brothers: Lewis C. Wright (Arnetta), Gerald F. Wright (Brenda), and Anthony K. Wright (Carmela); sister, Angela E. Wright Jones (Shannon); grandchildren, Troy McBride, Marse McBride and Amorian Wright-McBride; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Cynthia will truly be missed and forever loved.
A memorial service for Cynthia will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
