To her loving husband Curt Smith, Cindy was a trying, enduring, loving, caring, appliance cleaning, fish catching, and home cooking kind of wife. Curt knew instantly that he wanted this wonderful woman for his wife from the moment he moved her chair into the middle of the dance floor.
To her two children Curt Christopher Smith and Casey Nicole King, she was an inspiration that will forever remain the foundation of their hearts. To her sister, Charliss Ann Johnson, and brother, Jeff Johnson, she was supporting, competitive, conniving (like getting Jeff to eat that tube of lipstick), and gracious – everything a loving sibling deserves. Her father, Charles Edward Johnson, could not have asked for a better bunch of children.
Cindy was not only loving and caring, she was intelligent and goal driven. No matter the task at hand, she had the discipline and knowledge required to accomplish the task – whether it be learning how to drive, how to scale a fish, or how to manage working for five attorneys at one of the most prestigious firms in the country.
Cindy has taught each and every one of us that courage is not something that can be taught, it is something you have or you don’t. Cindy was a courageous woman her entire life; like when she married the fisherman in the straw cowboy had who had a squirrel as a pet. From child birth to bad cooking, Cindy was never fearless, but she had the courage to overcome that fear – like when she ate Casey’s fried chicken for the first time; completely raw. In her passing Cindy was more courageous than most people can even fathom. She had overcome her fear of death as she soon welcomed it with open arms as she knew her time had come and her goal on earth had been accomplished – she had found a combination of success and happiness, married a wonderful man and raised two beautiful children.
Anyone who had the opportunity to meet her should be proud of having known such an incredible woman. In heaven may she reign under the graces of God as he lives within our hearts – and now, so shall she.
