Colleen JoAnn Shoulders

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Colleen JoAnn Shoulders, age 96, who died peacefully on March 26, 2025 at Fall Creek Nursing Home. Born on June 21, 1928, in Houston, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of John and Bertha Wade, both of whom preceded her in death.

Colleen was a dedicated sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesse Ray, and her son, Jimmy Handley and all of her dear her siblings, John Wade Jr, Ray Wade, June Bone, Glenn Wade and Evelyn Compton. Her daughter, JoAnn, survives her, along with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Throughout her long life, Colleen was known for her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. She faced many challenges with grace, enduring the loss of her husband and son along with her dear family members with a quiet dignity that inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her later years, Colleen was a constant source of wisdom, kindness, and warmth. Her legacy will live on in the stories, traditions, and memories she left behind.

A private service for family members will be held at Brookside Memorial Cemetery’s Chapel of Chimes to honor her life and memory.
