Cheryl Anne Oliver was born July 17, 1958 in Houston, Texas to the late Floyd and Gladys Oliver, Jr. She was reared by her mother and step-father (the late John L. Young). She was the third of five children. On August 3, 1969, Cheryl professed Christ at the age of eleven and was baptized at St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Dr. C. S. Gunnells. At her passing, she was a member of the Fountain of Praise. She attended Eighth Avenue Elementary, George Washington Junior High School, and was a 1978 graduate of Reagan Senior High School. She briefly studied nursing at Houston Community College. Cheryl loved the Lord, evangelizing, reading the Bible, listening to gospel music, interacting with family, poetry, baking, traveling, and all types of cookies! God called his servant, Cheryl Oliver from labor to reward on Saturday, November 14, 2015. She leaves to cherish her memory and rejoice in her homegoing: two brothers, Robert Ravenell, Jr. and Bruce Oliver (Mary); two sisters, Carole and Deborah Oliver; one niece, Luvenia; two nephews, Terence (Toya) and Bruce II (Brittney); four aunts, Johnnie Dotson, Evelyn Thomas, Jenny Oliver, & Edith Oliver, one uncle, Van Thomas; one god-daughter, Damitria; one god-son, Nicodemus; three great nieces and two great nephews; three close friends, Earline Green, Beverly Buchanan, and Connie Nelson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
