In the evening of October 30, 1952, approximately 4:58, the first son was born to the proud parents, Charles Sapp and Susan Louise Johnson in Houston, Texas. The lovingly named him Charles William Sapp. With favor of God, Charles was raised in a loving Christian home of Mr. J. C. and Lola Carter in the community of “Buck Town” of the historical Fifth Ward, Texas. He was taught Christian value and at an early age Charles accepted Christ into his live and was baptized at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Many of that family and neighbors called him “Billy.” Charles was successful in his formative years, attending Nat Q. Henderson Elementary School, E. O. Smith Middle School and the “The” Legendary Phillis Wheatley High School, all of Houston Independent School District. Charles was a “Star” varsity football halfback at both E. O. Smith and Phillis Wheatley and was awarded “Lettered” sweaters and jackets in sports. Charles met and was united in marriage on July 4, 2014 to Janet Besanceney, the love of his life. Charles matriculated through many long ventures of Narcotic drug additions, leading to repeated crimes in his life’s battles!!! But God, miraculously blessed Charles to overcome time and time again!!! Charles was given an opportunity to work as a dishwasher at Cenikor, to eventually becoming the Vice President of “all” Cenikor operations in Houston, Denver and Forth Worth, Texas. Charles worked with the White House Advance Team during the Ronald Reagan Admission. He served as the Deputy Director for the New Direction Club. Charles served as the Deputy Director Texas Alcoholism Foundation and served as Program Director of the Cornell Corrections Ben A. Reid Facility. In addition Charles worked for the Mayor’s Coalition for Literacy and served as the Grant Coordinator for the Houston Read Commission and the Technical Assistant Specialist for the Houston Community College. Charles worked at various organizations and agencies after attending the University of Houston and was licensed by the State of Texas as a Chemical Abuse Counselor. He also served and provided counseling on the Harris Systems Healthcare for the Homeless Board, the Star of Hope, the Acts Ministry, the City of Refuge Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Charles worked as the Public Relation Coordinator for the Salvation ARC in Houston. On February 9, 2017, Charles health declined and he retired as the Director of Development for Salvation Army ARC. On April 26, 2017 at 10:55 am, Charles William Sapp, Sr. with his wife Janet by his side peacefully made his Heavenly transition to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Preceding Charles in death was his father, Charles Sapp; mother Susan Louise Sapp; foster father Mr. J. C. Carter; foster mother Mrs. Lola Carter and his only brother Jordan Sapp. Mourning but celebrating his victory in Christ and leaves in God’s care to cherish his memories, Charles loving and devoted wife, Janet Sapp; his beloved daughter, Aisha Ross (Stevon); two sons Charles was extremely proud of, Charles Sapp, Jr. and Gerome Sapp (Tracy) of Las Vegas, Nevada; two handsome grandsons, Aiden and Kai Sapp of Las Vegas, Nevada; two step daughters, Natalie Besanceney of California, Maryland and Shari Besanceney of Queens, New York and three adorable granddaughters, Lucy, Olivia and Genevieve; five cousins, Daisey McFolley (Dennis), Carolyn Sapp of Fort Pierce, Florida, Willie Nelson Sapp of Gordan, Georgia and Yolanda Sapp of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of friends.
