Charles S Carroll Jr. 90, of Houston Texas passed away on February 17, 2014. He was born on February 6, 1924 in Cambridge Massachusetts. He graduated from Boston College in 1941, coming back to finish his college degree after serving in the Army in Fort Ord, California. On April 19th 1950, he married his high school sweetheart Carolyn and their marriage lasted a wonderful 53 years until her passing in 2003.
His career began in department store retail merchandising, and through promotions took him to the following cities Buffalo New York, Portland Maine, Charleston, West Virginia, and finally, Birmingham, Alabama, as general merchandise manager. At age 53, he left retail merchandising to pursue a sales career as a bedding national sales representative, which led to Houston, TX where he retired from Spring Air Bedding, as key accounts representative at age 75. He was very passionate about his work, and always strived to be the best. This was reflected in performances that were unmatched in both careers by subsequent successors. His sales enthusiasm has continued in both of his children.
He was a wonderful husband, father grandfather, great grandfather, friend. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Eskew and son Charles S Carroll III of Birmingham, Alabama and wife Peggy; grandchildren Gordon Eskew Jr., Charles Eskew, Michael Eskew, Shannon Jones, Matthew Carroll, Matthew Boggan Andrew Boggan; Great grandchildren Matthew Roberson, Joey Eskew, Kevin Muceus, Jimmy Eskew, Loralei Eskew, Olivia Eskew, Kyrra Eskew, Mabry Jones, Riley McMurtrey, Reese Carroll, Jaden Boggan and Gavin Boggan.
