Cassandra Yamilet Sandoval

Cassandra Yamilet Sandoval passed away, Sunday, December 19, 2021 at her house. She was born to Edgar and Bertha Sandoval on the morning of January 17, 1983 at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston, Texas. Cassandra was the youngest of three children and the one with the largest personality, wit and determination to meet all her goals. Cassandra is survived by her Daughter: Alexis Abara, Pearland, Tx, Parents: Edgar and Bertha Sandoval, Houston, Tx, Grandmother: Lucia Sandoval. Sisters: Karla Sandoval and Lucy Sandoval Quintero, best friend Amanda Trigo, extended family many friends and co-workers throughout the Houston ISD. Cassandra loved her job; she started her educational career early as a teacher assistant with her goal in administrational leadership. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston-Downtown and a Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University. As an educator, she was a Co-Teacher and Resource Teacher for 6th through 8th grades and a Math teacher for 6th and 7th grade at Burbank Middle School where she earn ESL teacher of the year award and became cluster leader. She then pursued and acquired a position as a Teacher Specialist at Briscoe Elementary. Cassandra returned to Burbank Middle School as a Special Education and 504 Teacher Specialist where she assisted with the planning, developing, and implementing of special education and 504 services based upon a continuum of options. She also collaborated with campus personnel specific to training and professional development needs. Cassandra was very passionate about her job and to see true change in students and teachers she served. She believed that each student needed to reach their potential through a program which challenges students to try their best and teaches the student that hard work pays off.
