Carolyn Jean Robins was born June 8, 1945, in Houston, Texas to Horace Tennison & Barbara Straughter. She attended Kashmere Senior High School. Carolyn received training in Administrative and Secretarial skills, from Durham College in 1972. Those skills would later in life serve her as she filled her roll of Pastor's wife. At age 15 Carolyn Married her husband Elvin Robins age 25 (Her parents signed for her marriage) and their family would include 1 son (John J Smith) 4 daughters (Peejayé (Pam), Evelyn, Marilyn, and Antoinette) She would also mourn the loss of 3 kids in child birth (1 son and 2 daughters) Carolyn with her love of hair and fashion, went on to attend Franklin Beauty School, and in 1971 became a licensed Beautician, (she knew that she would have daughters and she said she always wanted them to look beautiful). Carolyn loved being a mother and pastor's wife where all her skills and expertise flourished. She opened her own beauty shop out of her home, where she not only did her girl's hair, but others who God sent to receive from her gift of styling hair. Carolyn was always known for her big eyes and beautiful smile and outspoken wit. Her kids were both home schooled and went to public schools, she was an honored HISD volunteer for 30 years. She always wanted her family to have the best from her. Anyone that knew her quickly learned that she loved the Word of God, she would read the Bible from cover to cover, and she could pray a prayer through, right from the throne of God. After her husband, Rev. Elvin died in 2001, she was ready to go home to be reunited with her husband and enjoy Heaven, but Carolyn would remain with her family another 20 years. She kept sharing her Love for God and His Word. If you visited her home, you would always leave with a gift, giving was her love language. She never stopped learning, even as a senior citizen her thirst for knowledge would find her taking sign language classes, computer classes, acting in plays, being a member of the Red Haters Society, and enjoying her love of music with her beloved line dancing team. Carolyn leaves to morn 5 kids, 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and so many relatives and friends, she will be dearly missed.
