Carolyn Cavanaugh Marrero

Carolyn Cavanaugh Marrero was born in Houston, TX on January 9, 1940. Carolyn died peacefully and comfortably at home in Houston, TX on Friday, January 5, 2024. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy, class of ’57. She retired from Baker Hughes after 37 years as executive secretary in 2009. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, “Grammy”.

She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Patrick Cyril Marrero Sr., her mother, Susan Elizabeth Wolf Cavanaugh, her father, Walter Joe Cavanaugh Sr., her sister, Clara Farr and husband Byron, her brothers, Walter Joe Cavanaugh Jr., and Louis Cavanaugh. She is survived by her children, Patrick Jr., Michael, and Monica Lankford and husband, Winston, her grandchildren, Amanda, Patrick III, and Christopher, her sisters-in-laws, Barbara Cavanaugh and Judy Cavanaugh, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Anchor Hospice and staff for their compassionate care of Carolyn, especially her nurse Trang and aide Sonya.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in the Grand Chapel from 1 – 2 pm, Funeral Service at 2 pm with a Rosary, Committal Service (burial) at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery at 3 pm ETA. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to Incarnate Word Academy or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
