Bruce Jerome Wade, age 47, was born on July 16, 1962, in San Jose, California and died in his home in Katy, TX, early Monday morning, March 8, 2010. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Aida Louise Wade and Guy Arthur Wade.
Bruce received his education from Lincoln Park Elementary and Bookcliff Junior High in Grand Junction, CO, and graduated from Graham High School in Weleetka, OK, in 1980. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University for one year and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BS in Geology in 1984 and a Master of Science in Geology in 1987. Bruce was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and the Delta Kappa chapter of Phi Kappa Tau social fraternity.
On April 17, 1999, in New Orleans, LA, Bruce was united in marriage with Kristy (Bell) Wade, who survives. He is also survived by twin sons Christian Jerome Wade and John Arthur Wade of the home. Other survivors include two sisters, Laura Luke and Kendle Wade, one niece, Alicia Luke, and two nephews, Brandon Wade, and Drew Luke, all of Grand Junction, CO, and an aunt, Jane Chism, of Bakersfield, CA. His sister-in-law, Angela Bell of the home, mother-in-law, Kathy Bell and father-in-law, Gary Bell of Novinger, MO, and his guardian, Judy Nelson, and honorary brother and sister-in-law, Rex and Susie Walcher of Henryetta, OK, also survive.
Bruce worked as a geoscientist for Exxon USA from 1987 - 1997, where his exploration and production efforts in the Gulf of Mexico resulted in significant reserve adds for the company. In 1997Bruce joined Shell Oil as a Production Geoscientist with Shell Offshore Inc. in New Orleans working the Gulf of Mexico. After some 2 years he was transferred to Muscat, Oman, as a Geologist in the South Oman Exploration Team. He remained in Muscat for 4 years before moving in 2002 to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as a Senior Explorationist in the offshore Peninsular Malaysia group. In 2007 he once again moved back to Oman, this time as Exploration Manager for the North Oman Exploration Team. This assignment was curtailed by the onset of his medical condition and as a result he transferred to Houston in 2008 to work in offshore Brazil as a Senior Explorationist.
Bruce enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the world, especially while living in Asia. Some favorite destinations for Bruce and Kristy were Italy, Cambodia, Turkey, Egypt, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, and China. He also enjoyed rock collecting, backpacking, camping, scuba diving, tennis, racquetball, running, and basketball, and was drum major for his junior high marching band. He will forever be remembered for his painstaking attention to detail in such things as Halloween costumes, trip planning, comparison shopping, and party planning, as well as for his humor, jokes and card tricks. In addition, he had a keen interest in technology in all forms and could always be counted on to know about and own the latest gadgets. While in Oman, he worked with the amateur theater company as the light and sound technician in furtherance of that interest.
Bruce was a member of South Main Baptist Church, Houston, TX.
