Briscoe was a 6th generation Texan born in Houston, Texas in 1944. Briscoe is a direct descendant of Emily Austin Bryan Perry, the sister of Stephen F. Austin, who was the sole heir to Stephen F. Austin’s estate when he died in 1836. Briscoe greatly enjoyed talking about Texas History with anyone that would listen.
Briscoe attended Moye Military School and spent most of his high school days fixing up and racing cars. He joined the US Army and served in Berlin, Germany working on Army tanks and later worked at NASA doing aerial photography. Briscoe turned his passion for working on cars into a business, opening his own auto repair shop in Stafford, Texas. He closed out his career teaching what he enjoyed most, auto mechanics, to youth at the Universal Technical Institute.
Briscoe loved old country music, working on cars, sailing in Galveston, loud conversations with the TV and movie screens, and spending time with family and friends.
Briscoe is preceded in death by his parents Chilton and Marjorie Bryan and his brother Chilton Bryan II. He will be dearly missed by his family including his wife Sharon Bryan, his two-sons, Mark of Boerne, Texas and wife Rhonda, and Brent of Friendswood, Texas and wife Amie, niece Margie of Houston, Texas, and 6 grandchildren – Joshua, Zachary, Lucas, Andrew, Ava, and Kristen.
Briscoe will be laid to rest at the Briscoe Cemetery in Richmond, Texas. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestparkwestheimer.com for the Bryan family.
