Bobbie Smith Roberts

Bobbie Jo Roberts (Smith) of Cypress Texas born September 22, 1946 went to be with Lord on Sunday January 19, 2020 after subsuming to her ninth pneumonia in thirteen months. She gave a valent fight but her lungs were too damaged.

She was the daughter of Aubrey and Odene Smith of Houston Texas. She grew up in Oak forest and graduated from Waltrip High School. She also attended the University of Houston graduating in 1997 of with a degree of “Bachelor of Science in Education” cum laude.

Bobbie’s main focus in life was serve the Lord and her family. Bobbie was saved when she was 12 years old. Over the years, she served in many positions in several churches due her husbands job transfers. She served as a Youth Sunday School teacher, Women’s Class teacher, worked in the print room, the Principle of the Berean Baptist Christian School, secretary to a pastor, in Houston’s First Baptist Church’s Counselling Center, and edited a pastor’s books which he had written from another city.

She was an avid reader of Christian books from many different authors that took up three books cases.

Family was number one after the Lord. She raised two sons participating in all facets of their life. Including their spiritual life, education life, hobbies, and recreational life.

She supported her husband’s transfers to other cities and when was gone a lot on business. She was his golfing, fishing, and traveling buddy. His best friend. She helps take care of her mother by taking her to doctors and other appointments.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Odene Smith.

Bobbie is survived by her loving husband of 54 ½ years, Mike Roberts of Cypress; son Michael Roberts and wife, DeAn Roberts, and son Jeffrey Roberts; sister Martha Farmer and husband Mike; grandchildren, Quin, Scott, Matt, Seth, Zach; great grandson Jaxton; Niece Kristi Hardy and husband Brad; nephews Bobby and Glyn Farmer; and other family members and friends.

A family gathering for Bobbie will be held Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, followed by a graveside service from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.
