Billy graduated from Quanah High School in 1957. Served in the U.S. Army January 1958 through January 1960. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sp.4 (E.4). He was Special Radio Tel-type Operator. He married Ann Eppler in June 23, 1962 in Andrews, Texas. Billy graduated from Sunset School of Preaching in 1971 and received his Bachelor degree from Lubbock Christian College in 1973. He served as Elder at Aldine Church of Christ, Deacon over Missionary Work and Hidden Valley Church of Christ. Billy served on the U.S. draft board in Houston, Texas from March 1987 through March 1990. His work history included Coke Cola Bottling Company, QA and P Railway (Quanah, Texas), Insurance Adjustor, Supervisor Insurance Adjusters, and Storm trooping for insurance adjusters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma Elleda Hindman Young and Harvey Lee Young; brothers, Lloyd Young, Johnny Young, Bobby Young; Sister, Joyce Elleda Young; Brothers-In-Law, Wayne Eppler, Don Jackson; Sisters-In-Law, Glynn Young and Jan Jackson, He was also preceded in death by his best friend and loving wife of 49½ years, Ann Eppler Young.
Billy is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Young of Tomball, Texas, Betty Fannin and husband, Joseph K. Fannin of Madisonville, Texas; Granddaughters Casey L. Fannin of Huntsville, Texas, Christina E. Fannin of Madisonville, Texas; two Great-granddaughters, Baylee Fannin and Preslee Mitchell of Madisonville, Texas; Sisters-In-Law, Mary Eppler of Lubbock, Texas, and Linda Young of Sargent, Texas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Christopher Mouton, Nathan Mouton, Christopher Eppler, Steven Jackson, Gene King, Joseph K. Fannin- honorary and Rayford Walker- honorary.
A visitation for Billy will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A committal service will immediately follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
