Betty Jean Jordan

Betty Jean Ingram Jordan passed away on August 6, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 77. After many years of living with Alzheimer’s Disease, Betty died peacefully with her children, Deanna and Kendall, by her side.

Betty was born on December 16, 1944, in the Naval Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas to A. Bruce Ingram, Sr. and Mary Ann Ingram. She graduated from Waltrip High School in Houston, Texas in 1963. Shortly after graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, Harry Jordan, on June 15, 1963, and together they had 2 children, Deanna and Kendall. They were married 28 years.

Betty went to work for her father and with her older brother in the family business, Magneto and Diesel Injector Service, which later became M & D Distributors. Once she became a mother, she worked at home committed to caring for her family and serving others. She was a faithful volunteer at her children’s schools in the library, office, PTA, and Booster Club. She was the team mom for countless sports teams, taught Sunday School, volunteered weekly at Cy-Fair Hospital, and in the church office at Foundry United Methodist Church. As an empty nester, Betty returned to the work force at Cy-Fair Hospital and Women’s Health Boutique dedicated to serving women fighting breast cancer. She retired in December of 2004 to spend time with her grandchildren and to travel with friends.

Betty was devoted to her family and friends, and spending time with them was her greatest joy. She never met a stranger and had an enormous capacity to love others. She was kind, strong, loyal, generous, and hilarious. She never lost her sense of humor. Her legacy will continue through all of those she held dear.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kendall and Judy Jordan of La Vernia, Texas, daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and William Lawson of Houston, Texas, and her grandchildren, Cameron and Elizabeth of La Vernia, Texas and Katherine, Caroline, and Julia of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Jeannell Ingram of Houston, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ted and Fran Jordan, sisters-in law, Donna Ingram and Kay Wilbanks, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Betty is predeceased by her parents, Bruce and Mary Ann Ingram, and her brother, Bruce Ingram, Jr.

The family would like to thank the devoted memory care staff at Franklin Park in Alamo Heights, San Antonio, Texas for their care of Betty.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 20 at 2 pm in the chapel at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery with a graveside service to follow at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079. An open house to visit with the family will follow with directions announced at the service.
