Betty Faye Crain

On August 1, 2023, Betty Faye Crain, age 92, passed away at home surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Crain, Jr. and her daughter Cathy. Betty is survived by her daughters Linda Craighead, Deborah Hahn and Marion Consoli, and her son Jeff Crain. In addition to her children, Betty is survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Born in Coushatta, Louisiana on May 4, 1931 to Clilton and Sadie Moore, Betty spent her formative years growing up in rural north Louisiana, south of Shreveport. In 1959, she married Earnest and they moved to Houston in 1968. She resided in Houston for the rest of her life. After the children were raised, she and Earnest enjoyed traveling and took many overseas trips. Upon Earnest’s death in 2001, Betty became intensely interested in documenting her family genealogy, self-publishing several books based upon her research.

Betty endeared herself to friends, co-workers and strangers because of her deeply held beliefs in fairness, kindness and compassion. She had a gentle and loving spirit that was readily apparent to those who entered her orbit. While she will be forever missed by her extended family grieving with broken hearts, we take solace in having shared her life’s journey, learned from her example and was privileged to feel her loving embrace.

Funeral services will be held at Brookside Memorial Park on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 12:00 noon.
